🩺 Dr Clyde Fenton
Clyde Fenton’s best-known medical flying began from Katherine, but his aviation story also reached Batchelor. During the Second World War he served as a Royal Australian Air Force pilot, flying from Batchelor to carry supplies, mail and personnel to isolated northern posts. His earlier work had already demonstrated how an aircraft could shrink the formidable distances between patients and medical help. The Batchelor connection belongs to this wartime service, a distinct chapter in the career of the Territory’s celebrated flying doctor.
